HALLOWEEN ADVERTISEMENTS
Yesterday was Halloween. Did you notice it? Sure, it's not exactly a Czech holiday, but the gradual penetration of American subculture is really trying to make it visible. Its symbol is an empty pumpkin, carved with little eyes, a nose, and a wide grinning mouth, with a candle burning inside the poor gutted vegetable. In the United States, on this occasion, trick-or-treaters also go out in "scary" costumes begging for sweets, so it's somewhat similar to our Easter. But that won't be the topic today.
During this holiday, quite a number of thematic advertisements usually emerge each year, utilizing this day for the original promotion of their products. Why not, it is mostly among the better things produced over the year, so there is much to see. This year we have also noted several interesting ads that we think are worth mentioning — both on the Czech and world stage. Let’s take a closer look at some of them.
Spooky Vegetables
The Brazilian meat store chain Viande knows well that baked vegetables, like red peppers, pair excellently with a quality and properly cooked steak. And since in the Portuguese-speaking country of South America, there is often a trend to eat meat without sides, the brand embraced this and created a thematic visual for Halloween that delights with its concept and a certain spontaneous touch.

Every proper man carries a knife
This well-known saying was humorously supported by the Canadian company L’Émouleur, which produces special sets of Japanese knives. On the occasion of this year’s Halloween, they created a clever visual featuring famous movie killers, particularly appealing to horror fans — and of course, knife enthusiasts. Are you missing a decent kitchen knife? Then the choice of where to buy it is quite clear.

Halloween Horror at McDonald's
Not that the food at McDonald's tastes (particularly) terrible, but as for Halloween "horrors," they have gone quite far this year in Finland. The statistically most ordered hamburger in this northern country was supported by tabletop advertising, which revealed its true Halloween essence when unfolded. Just tell us, would you dare to taste such a burger?

One two, the monster is coming
Even in the Czech Republic, we are not doing badly with Halloween posts. One such stylish post was prepared by the agency Social Sharks for the energy drink Big Shock. Does that logo resembling Godzilla's claws or a tribute to an angry Wolverine seem off to you? It’s probably intentional.

To conclude on a serious note
This year's Halloween also saw the release of a series of campaign videos in Canada titled “It Must End” about domestic violence against women, which seemingly have nothing to do with this holiday, and yet they indeed do. After all, as the video description states — “For some women, the horror doesn't end with Halloween” — there is a strong connection here. Watch to see why we included it in our selection today.
